FIELD: poultry-processing industry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus for cleaning birds' carcasses having cavity of complicated shape has plurality of cleaning heads arranged in spaced relation with one another around spraying rotary turret-type device mounted for rotation on vertical shaft. Cleaning heads are mounted on vertical guides arranged in spaced relation with one another around spraying rotary turret-type device. Drum cam is immovably attached to vertical shaft inside spraying device. Cam-driven member connected to each cleaning head is adapted to follow cam profile for causing displacement of each cleaning head along guides. Conveyor is adapted for sequential conveyance of birds' carcasses for bringing them into contact with said spraying device and for discharging them from said spraying device. Indexing member holds each of birds' carcasses in aligned position relative to one of cleaning heads. In response to relative shift between immovable cam and rotary spraying device, cam-driven member of each cleaning head follows circumferential profile of cam to provide for insertion of each cleaning head into cavity of each bird's carcass. Each cleaning head is held in cavity of each bird's carcass during suspension time before it is withdrawn from said cavity. Apparatus and method allows internal cavities of birds' carcasses having complicated shape to be effectively cleaned due to creating plurality of cleaning liquid spraying models and due to extension of diaphragm, which separates internal and lower cavities of carcass, by original construction of nozzle and spraying tip.
