FIELD: poultry-processing industry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has poultry transportation conveyor, cleaning liquid supplying device, spraying nozzles for spraying cleaning liquid onto poultry surface, and jet nozzle for filling poultry with cleaning liquid. Jet nozzle directs narrow flow of cleaning liquid into poultry upper opening during transportation by conveyor. Flow direction may be adjusted. Flow rate of cleaning liquid through jet nozzle is about 113 l/min. Spraying nozzle has plurality of discharge openings for spraying of cleaning liquid. Method involves providing chamber and conveying poultry through chamber along overhung path; spraying cleaning liquid onto poultry outer surface and filling inner cavity of each poultry with cleaning liquid during transportation of poultry through chamber. Method and apparatus allow amount of pathogenic bacteria on poultry or other animal carcass used as food to be reduced.
