FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of execution of mechanical work at combustion of gases in internal combustion engine and piston engines with crank gear used to implement the method. Said method, according to preferable versions, includes building of air charge, control of temperature, density and pressure of air charge, transfer of air charge into engine power cylinder, whose weight and density are chosen from range of weight and density values of atmosphere to values exceeding atmospheric values, compression of air charge so that effective compression ratio is less than normal one, forming of fuel mixture from preset amount of charge air and fuel and creation of conditions for ignition of said mixture in power cylinder, and provision of possibility of expansion of gaseous combustion products which act onto piston of power cylinder. Degree of expansion in power cylinder considerably exceeds effective compression ratio in engine power cylinders. EFFECT: increased degree of expansion as compared with compression ratio, reduced consumption of fuel and increased power output. 14 cl, 36 dwg
