FIELD: pipeline erection, namely, monitoring zones of pipeline crossing over automobile roads. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of determining electric resistance between pipeline and protective envelope in cross sections passing trough both ends of protective envelope while detecting electric contact according to formula: Lleft = {Rl - Rr +L(r+R)}/2(r+R), where Ll is spacing between zone of electric contact and left end of protective envelope; Rl is electric resistance between pipeline and protective envelope in cross section passing through left end of protective envelope; Rr is electric resistance between pipeline and protective envelope in cross section passing through right end of protective envelope; L is total length of protective envelope; r is electric resistance of one meter of pipeline; R is electric resistance of one meter of protective envelope. EFFECT: simplified process for finding electric contact zone between pipeline and protective envelope.
