FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: device is provided with matching unit, analog-to-digital converter, signal converter made in form of standardized autocorrelation function meter, two comparison units, measurement error determination unit, adder, reference function and magnitude storage units, address generating circuit, reference magnitude and wear magnitude permanent storage units, signal detection unit, synchronization unit, arithmetic logic unit, diagnosis function determination unit, delay unit, for determination of average magnitude of wear, control signal shaping unit, two power amplifiers and two signal lamps: BEGINNING OF WEAR and CRITICAL WEAR. During measurement, signal from brake block wear sensor is converted into 512 discrete readings which are compared with 512 discrete magnitude of fault-free article. Deviation signal is stored in binary code. Simultaneously, deviation measurement error is noted. Reference magnitudes of definite calibration chart are compared with accurate magnitude of deviation of measurement and number of magnitude at which difference is minimum is revealed. According to said number, respective magnitude of wear in physical units is selected from permanent storage unit. EFFECT: extended functional capabilities; enhanced accuracy. 3 dwg
