FIELD: medicine, hepatology, toxicology, phthisiology. SUBSTANCE: as a hepatoprotector one should apply succinate of 2-ethyl-6- methyl-3- hydroxypyridine named mexidole. Course application of mexidole provides membrane- protector action upon hepatic cells being toxically affected as a result of prolonged application of tuberculostatics. Moreover, mexidole introduction prevents pathological alterations of functional hepatic and pancreatic samples. Capacity of mexidole to prevent progression of cytolysis and cholestasia syndromes correlates with its antioxidant activity. EFFECT: higher efficiency of prophylaxis and correction. 2 ex, 8 tbl
