SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for treatment of Bayer process lyes containing deposit-forming components in order to modify morphology of these components and/or deposits formed from the latter aiming to reduce amount of thus formed deposits and/or facilitate removal of already formed deposits in apparatuses and equipment of Bayer process. To that aim, a polymer containing groups of hydroxamic acid or its salt and having weighed average molecular weight within a range of ca. 1000 to less than ca. 10000 is added to lye.
