SUBSTANCE: compositions contain water-soluble or water-dispersed organosilicon polymer flocculants for the desilication product and an anionic polymer flocculant for Bayer process red mud, in which the weight ratio of the amount of the silicon-containing flocculant to the amount of the polymer flocculant ranges from approximately 100:1 to approximately 1:10. The disclosed flocculation methods involve mixing Bayer process streams with the disclosed compositions in an amount which is sufficient for flocculation of suspended solid particles contained in the red mud, the desilication product and mixtures thereof.

EFFECT: high degree of separation of suspended solid substances in Bayer process streams when said streams come into contact with silicon-containing polymer flocculants and high degree of purity of the obtained product - aluminium oxide.
