FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis of tetrahydrothiophene that is used as an odorant of gases and the parent raw for synthesis of different valuable organic substances. Process is performed by hydrogenation of thiophene at T = 240-260 C, P = 0.5-2.0 MPa, feeding rate value 1.7-14.0 mmole of thiophene/h/1 g of tungsten disulfide of the formula WS2 as a catalyst.
