FIELD: organic synthesis, particularly, methods of production of phenol and its derivatives by catalytic oxidation of benzene and its derivatives. SUBSTANCE: method is realized with use of nitrogen monoxide at 300-1000 C in reducing atmosphere with content of reducer in dilution gas from 0.01 to 100 mole%. Reducer is used in the form of carbon monoxide, ammonia, hydrogen, methane, ethane, methanol, ethanol and other organic and inorganic compounds or their mixtures possessing reducing properties. Reducing atmosphere contains water vapors in concentration from 1 to 99 mole%. Subjected to activation are deactivated catalysts to restore their activity and further use in catalytic processes. Method of activation of zeolite catalysts in reducing atmosphere allows increase of activity of said systems in reaction of oxidizing hydroxylation of aromatic compounds with nitrogen monoxide. Catalysts having lost their activity in the course of operation may be reactivated by their treatment in reducing atmosphere and further used for oxidizing of aromatic compounds with nitrogen monoxide to produce respective hydroxy derivatives.
