FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: cyclohexanone is produced via liquid-phase oxidation of benzene hydrogenation products including at least 0.5% of cyclohexene. Oxidation is effected by nitrogen monoxide or its mixture with inert gas at temperature 150 to 350 C and nitrogen monoxide pressure within a range of 0.1 to 200 atm. Advantageously, reaction mixture in oxidation stage is supplemented by inert gas diluent and catalyst.
