FIELD: rubber industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to partly epoxidated elastomer composition suitable for manufacturing treads. Composition destined to sulfur and sulfur-donor vulcanization is prepared from (a) 20-100 wt. % (based on 100 wt.pts of elastomer) of optionally epoxidated elastomer (0.7-8.0% epoxidation degree) prepared by polymerization of minovinylarene with conjugated diene and, possibly, optionally epoxidated elastomer selected from diolefin elastomers, (b) 10-100 wt.pts of silica, and (c) 0-150 wt.pts of carbon black. According to another option, composition contains 20-100 wt. % of optionally epoxidated elastomer, 10-150 wt.pts silica, 0-150 wt. pts carbon black, and 0.2-15 wt.% binding agent. Vulcanization is effected at 130-180 C. EFFECT: improved adhesion of tread to wet surface and abrasion resistance. 17 cl, 11 tbl, 5 ex
