FIELD: metallurgy; manufacture of composite materials and aluminum-based master alloys with hardening particles of refractory compounds (carbides, nitrides, oxides, etc.). SUBSTANCE: manufacture of master alloys with aluminum matrix containing 40-80% of refractory particles; particles are placed in mold for impregnation where molten aluminum is poured. Particles and aluminum are heated to different temperatures. Aluminum is heated to its melting point but not exceeding said point by more than 5-10 C and particles are heated to temperature depending on relationship of specific surface of particles and surface tension of molten aluminum. EFFECT: enhanced economical efficiency; enhanced safety of method of obtaining master alloy at high content of refractory particles; complete assimilation of particles by matrix. 1 tbl, 2 ex
