SUBSTANCE: phosphatizing is effected in solution of phosphatizing concentrate of the following composition, g/ion: Zn⁺², 8.0-30.0; phosphoric anhydride P₂O₅, 5.0-25.0; NO-3

ions, 10.0-45.0; Ni⁺² ions, 0.01-2.0; F^- ions, 0.1-2.0; l-hydroxyethylidene phosphonic acid, 0.01-1.0; hydroxylamine sulfate, 0.1-8.0; citric acid, 0.01-3.0; water, the balance; articles are immersed in phosphatizing solution at temperature of 70-95 C; the procedure is continued for 5-20 min; procedure may be effected by drawing the wire through phosphatizing solution at temperature of 70-95 C for 10-40 s followed by application of dry drawing lubricant of the following composition, mas. %: calcined soda Na₂CO₃, 5.0-20.0; sodium nitrite NaNO₂, 0.5-7.0; sodium sulfate Na₂SO₄, 5.0-20.0; borax Na₂B₄O₇•10H₂O, 0.1-5.0; active magnesia MgO, 1.0-5.0; boron nitride BN, 0.05-3.0; stearic acid C₁₇H₃₅COOH, the balance. Said method provides: (1) preparation of surface of wire rod from high-carbon steel, Grades 55-80 before drawing in multiple drawing mills, thus obtaining high- quality wire of 1.8-2.6 mm in diameter at residual phosphate of 3.0-5.0 g/sq.m at reduced consumption of drawing tools; (2) preparation of surface of high-carbon wire before dry drawing in intermediate drawing mills thus obtaining high-quality wire at diameter of 0.8-1.0 mm at residual phosphate of 1.8-2.8 g/sq.m at considerable reduction of consumption of drawing tools.
