FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, winning of aluminum by electrolysis from cryolite-alumina melts. SUBSTANCE: device can be used for automated feed of electrolyzers with upper current lead with alumina and correction additives. Proposed device has hopper for alumina, feeder with drift whose axis is positioned at angle α with regard to vertical wall of anode in direction from cathode enclosure towards anode. Axis of drift is located at angle α equal to 18-30 degrees to vertical wall of anode. Relationship of distance C from crossing point of axis and surface of melt to distance D between internal surfaces of cathode unit and anode at moment of electrolyzer is put into service is from 0.07 to 0.12. EFFECT: efficient dissolution of metallurgical alumina of any quality, its total assimilation by electrolyte melt, lowered consumption of compressed air thanks to reduction of number of cycles by drift, diminished labor input to operation of alumina loading into hoppers of automated alumina feed. 3 cl, 2 dwg
