METHOD FOR TREATING DIABETIC POLYNEUROPATHY Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: the method deals with treating late diabetic complications. For this purpose one should provide the compensation of diabetes, if patients have at least 3 out of 8 symptoms, such as, dry skin (hypo- or angidrosis), hyperkeratosis, constipations, body temperature below 36.4 C, neuropathic edema, hypercholesterinemia, chilliness, bad growth of nails and/or longitudinally striated nails, one should additionally introduce small doses of thyroid hormones at 12.5-50 mcg dosage at minimal therapy course duration being 4-8 wk in case of normal functioning of thyroid gland. Prolonged therapy is performed at subclinical hypothyroidism under TTG control. The method provides activation of antioxidant protection, decrease of tissue hypoxia.
