FIELD: methods of concentration of crushed mineral materials by detection of useful minerals with use of luminescence excited in them by pulses of X-ray radiation. SUBSTANCE: method includes radiation of initial material by X-ray radiation pulses for excitation of luminescence of useful mineral, measurement of intensities of short- and long-lived components of luminescence excited in it, and separation of useful mineral from initial material by preset criterion. According to the first version, duration of radiation pulses is selected which is sufficient for excitation of luminescence of short-lived component of useful mineral and which pulse repetition frequency ensures initiation of its long-lived component; measurement of intensities of short- and long-lived components of initial of useful mineral luminescence, respectively, for time governed by time constant of its long-lived component attenuation. According to another version of the method, radiation pulse duration is selected to be sufficient for excitation of useful mineral short-lived component with pulse reparation frequency ensuring initiation of its long-lived component; modulation of sequence of radiation pulses whose duration is sufficient for initiation of long-lived component of useful mineral luminescence and pulse repetition period ensures measurement of its attenuation intensity, and measurement of intensity of luminescence short-lived component of useful mineral during time of modulation pulse, and measurement of intensity of its long-lived component during intervals between modulating pulses. Said method is used both it separators at all stages of concentration, and also in devices for control over products, for instance, diamond containing material. EFFECT: improved selectivity of initial material separation due to increased accuracy of measurement by registered luminescence intensities and owing to provision of selection of efficient criterion. 6 cl, 1 dwg
