FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves feeding metal simultaneously from two pouring ladles through respective furnace wells into transverse metal pipeline connected to above mentioned furnace wells and equipped with pouring ladles having longitudinal axes oriented to one or more crystallizers; upon termination of pouring procedure of one of ladles, removing remaining metal and slug from respective furnace well and simultaneously continuing feeding metal into crystallizer from other pouring ladle through respective furnace well; providing continuous metal pouring by periodically and alternatively changing ladles above respective furnace wells by "melt-onto-melt" method. Apparatus has slide valves provided with through openings and positioned adjacent to each furnace well on metal pipeline. Slide valves are composed of two immovable refractory plates and one movable refractory plate, each being equipped with additional opening leading to outer surface of respective plate and being connectable with inner cavity of respective furnace well, when it is closed with slide valve. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified method and construction. 3 cl, 2 dwg
