FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves delivery of melted steel from a ladle through sealed chamber 3 to metal reservoir 23 and through metallic wire 18 to crystalliser inner cavity, formation of a cast ingot primary skin, the ingot drawing from the crystalliser, crystallisation in the secondary cooling zone, the ingot cutting to cut-to-length sections. Crystalliser 4 consists of the head part and the tail fixed part sealed connected to it. The head part is designed as tubular fairing 15 with water cooled copper sleeve 14 fixed inside it, and it is installed with a possibility of back-and-forth movement relative to cylindrical housing 20 of the fixed part of the crystalliser. The ingot from the crystalliser is drawn continuously at the speed of 25÷60 mm/s. During movement of the crystalliser head part in a direction opposite to the ingot drawing, gain of the primary ingot skin is performed. During the head part return to the normal position under spring 30 action, the primary ingot skin is compressed lengthwise by annular collar 16 of sleeve 14.
EFFECT: reducing surface and internal defects of the ingot.
