FIELD: mechanical engineering; welding equipment. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in welding sets of vehicles provided with generator plants with external excitation. Commutator has terminals 1 and 2 for connection of positive terminals of generator and storage battery. Controlled switching element 3 is placed between terminals 1 and 2. Terminal 4 for connecting positive external welding wire 5 is connected by welding circuit 6 with terminal 1. Switch signal threshold detector 9 of switching element 3 is dependent on welding circuit voltage and coupling with control input of switching element 3. Current sensor 10 in welding circuit 6 is connected to provided supply of signal through signal delay element 13 to control input of switching element 3 at no current in welding circuit. Switching signal threshold detector 9 of switching element 3 is connected between terminals for connecting positive and negative poles of generator and is made with level of operating voltage not less than 75 V. Such design makes it possible to improved performance characteristics by reducing possibility of discharge of storage battery in process of welding wires of two and more welding sets to welding terminal.
