SECONDARY POWER SUPPLY Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2215354 C1

FIELD: electrical engineering; stand-by or no-break power units. SUBSTANCE: proposed secondary power supply operating on dc mains, especially when fed from unstable power sources whose capacity can vary within comprehensive range (wind- power, hydroelectric, photoelectric, and the like power stations) uses extended range of unstable power capacities when its power is below specified rating. It has pulse converter provided with inductive-capacitive filter, its output being connected to load through isolating diode whose anode is connected to first lead of storage-battery charge circuit; storage battery with charge and discharge circuits switched over by means of transistors; device controlling transistor switching of charge and discharge circuits; converter transistor; capacitor connected in parallel with load; also sensors of supply mains and load condition; pulse converter filter is built around transformer whose primary winding is inserted in discharge circuit and secondary one, in charge circuit in series with mains output, charge-circuit transistor, and isolating diode; common point of transformer secondary winding and charge-circuit transistor is connected through converter transistor to common negative power bus of generator, storage battery, and load so that with discharge-circuit transistor cut off transformer secondary winding, converter transistor, isolating diode, and capacitor form step-up pulse voltage converter while transformer, discharge-circuit transistor, isolating diode, and capacitor connected in parallel with load form additional monostable single-ended pulse-width converter. EFFECT: enhanced use factor of power supply; enhanced reliability of standby (secondary) power system. 1 cl, 1 dwg
