ON-BOARD FUEL GAUGING SYSTEM WITH COMPENSATION FOR TEMPERATURE AND STATIC DIELECTRIC FUEL PERMEABILITY Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: aircraft instrumentation engineering; measurement of mass of fuel on board maneuverable aircraft. SUBSTANCE: proposed system includes sensors and indicators showing parameters of fuel contained in aircraft fuel tanks: indicators of suspension and dropping of first usage tanks auxiliary tanks, sensors of flow rate of fuel being used and meters of fuel characteristic parameters; sensors of flow rate of fuel being received and meters of said fuel characteristic parameters, as well as fuel level sensors and meters of said fuel characteristic parameters. System includes also fuel data processing units. For effective compensation of error of measurement of fuel mass, especially when aircraft works on foreign fuels, system is provided with two different meters of fuel characteristic parameters: fuel temperature meter and fuel static dielectric permeability meter for measurements at DC or low-frequency AC.
