FIELD: air transport; airfield equipment. SUBSTANCE: proposed light warning system includes center-line light, barrier lights, edge lights and threshold lights of runway, touch- down zone lights and approach zone lights which are located along two convergent lines forming acute convergence angle whose vertex lies on runway axis at its beginning. Tangent of half convergence angle of line of approach zone lights is selected from the following expression: , where ψ - is half convergence angle of line of approach zone lights; α - is angle of inclination of glide path of runway; Z is distance between runway axis and approach zone light; X is distance between light and vertex of convergence angle of approach zone lights taken along runway axis. Approach zone lights may be located as far as edge lights of runway. EFFECT: possibility of obtaining visual information on aircraft position relative to touch-down point in range and relative to preset glide path of landing in altitude at final phase of landing at manual control stage. 2 cl, 4 dwg
