FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, namely constructions of cells for producing aluminum. SUBSTANCE: cathode device includes metallic rectangular casing, lateral lining made of blocks mounted on edge, carbon bottom blocks with electrically conductive rods, interblock joints, refractory and heat insulation layers. Blocks of lateral lining are formed of silicium carbide; their thickness consists (50-70)mm and they are cemented to casing by means of silicium carbide solution solidifying in air. Invention allows to increase length and working surface area of cathode casing by (360-400)mm and to enhance its efficiency per day by 10% due to increased length of anode.
