FIELD: chromium-containing catalysts used in oxidation of organic compounds, hydrogen and carbon monoxide in waste gases of industrial plants. SUBSTANCE: chromium- containing catalyst includes chromium compounds, promoter, aluminum oxide and additionally contains at least one compound of elements from group including silicon, magnesium, barium, sodium, potassium, iron, calcium, cerium, zirconium, and titanium. Promoter is used at least in compound of metal selected from group: cobalt, nickel, iron, manganese, copper, and vanadium. Chromium presented in catalyst is in oxidation degree of Cr+6, Cr3+. Catalyst has the following composition (in terms of oxides), wt. %: chromium oxide, 5-20, including Cr6+ not more 1; promoter at least one compound of metal from group including cobalt, nickel, iron, manganese, copper, vanadium, 5-20; at least one compound of element from group: silicon, magnesium, barium, sodium, potassium, iron, calcium, cerium, zirconium, and titanium, 0.01-45; aluminum oxide, the balance. The first method of chromium-containing catalyst production consists in mixing of components containing chromium compounds, promoter with aluminum hydroxide with subsequent molding, and drying calculation. The second method consists in impregnation of aluminum oxide with solution of chromium compounds, drying and calcination. The claimed catalyst is distinguished from the known catalysts by low content of Cr6+ which does not increase in catalyst storage in air and in period of its use. Claimed catalyst possesses high stability to catalytic poisons in presence of sulfur-containing compounds, sufficiently high thermal stability.
