FIELD: special electrometallurgy; applicable in production of ingots of titanium high alloys by vacuum arc remelting of consumable pressed electrodes. SUBSTANCE: after preparation of liquid metal bath on bottom of 150-200 mm high, volume of liquid metal during entire melting process is reduced due to reduction of arc current intensity to 7-10 kA, and arc gap value is reduced to 25-30 mm.
