FIELD: metallurgy, particularly, processing of secondary steel noncompact materials in the form of chips, sheet crop ends and production wastes. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging into mold of vanadium electric arc furnace of consumable pressed electrode with flux portions pressed into blocks and placed in metal capsules, and gradual combined melting of wastes and flux by combination of processes of electroslag remelting and vacuum electric arc furnace remelting. The device for pressing of blocks of consumable electrodes has container, die with cylindrical or conical working surface, press stamp with pressing disc, independent pressing disc and wedge-shaped gate on the side of die outlet. The method allows use of thin noncompact steel wastes in the form of chips, sheet crop ends without preliminary treatment.
