FIELD: organic chemistry, microbiology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical reagents, in part, reagents used for growth inhibition of sulfate-reducing microorganisms and inhibition of hydrogen sulfide corrosion. Reagent for growth inhibition of sulfate-reducing microorganisms and inhibition of hydrogen sulfide corrosion in oil field media is a product of interaction of 30-40% aqueous or aqueous-methanolic solution of formaldehyde (formalin) with ammonia and monoethanolamine in the mole ratio formaldehyde : ammonia : monoethanolamine = 1 : (0.05-0.40) : (0.10-0.90), respectively. Proposed reagent can comprise additionally aliphatic C1-C3-alcohol as organic solvent or mixture of alcohol with aromatic solvent taken in the amount up to 40 vol. %. Invention provides enhancement of effectiveness of growth inhibition of sulfate-reducing microorganisms, high neutralizing capacity with respect to hydrogen sulfide and light mercaptanes. Invention can be used in oil and gas production for prevention of growth of sulfate-reducing microorganisms in oil field media and in flooding oil stratum and for protection of equipment from hydrogen sulfide corrosion. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of growth inhibition, expanded assortment of available and inexpensive reagents exhibiting high effectiveness of control of growth of sulfate-reducing microorganisms and hydrogen sulfide corrosion. 4 tbl
