FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: muffler has housing with inlet tangential branch pipe and outlet branch pipe, at least two envelopes installed coaxially in housing to form inlet, intermediate and outlet chambers together with housing in direction from axis to housing, spaces of chambers being series-interconnected through holes in envelopes. Space of inlet tangential branch pipe is connected with space of inlet chamber. Space of outlet chamber is connected with space of outlet branch pipe. Housing is made in form of scroll whose outlet is rigidly connected with tangentially installed outlet branch pipe. Envelopes are provided with guide tangential blades between which holes in form of wedge-shaped slots are made. Smaller-size sections of holes are pointed to gas inlet. Blades in envelopes are tilted in different sides. Tilting of blade in first envelope from axis is made to side coinciding with direction of rotation of gas getting from inlet tangential branch pipe. EFFECT: reduced aerodynamic resistance, labour input and improved ecological characteristics of muffler. 2 dwg
