FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves making three pierces in sclera. Vitrectomy is carried out. Electric thermo coagulator unit is introduced into vitreous body cavity. 6-10 impulses of 0.2-0.3 s duration and 5.3-5.5 MW power are produced 2-3 mm far from the retina above the optic nerve disk in the macula area and above the temporal vascular fascicles. Detached anterior and posterior hyaloid membranes are removed. EFFECT: reduced risk of post- and intraoperative complications; prevented vitreoretinal proliferation.
