FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy, particularly, formation of protective coatings from gas phase on articles of complex configuration; applicable in metal coating of metal and nonmetal articles with high friability. SUBSTANCE: process is realized with thermal decomposition of nickel tetracarbonyl vapors on protected surface. Device reactor is made in the form of two vertical parallel bodies of the same cross-section interconnected in upper and lower parts by adapters. One body has a heater, while the other, a cooler. Mechanism for moving the treated parts is made in the form of two equal parallel circular chains interconnected by bars for parts fastening, and chain drive ensuring successive moving of parts from one device body to the other. Branch pipe supplying gas medium is located above upper plane of the cooler, and branch pipe for discharge of reaction products is located above upper surface of the heater. Such a design of device provides for increase of quality of ready products due to increased density of coating and its adhesion to substrate, and extended nomenclature of treated parts.
