FIELD: composite materials; applicable in manufacture of articles with improved electrical and heat conductivity. SUBSTANCE: composite material contains mixture of aluminum or aluminum alloy with particles of more heatproof material and copper members located in direction of transmission of electrical or heat energy. Located between copper member and mixture is continuous intermediate layer with thickness exceeding 1.5-25 average sizes of particles of heatproof material. Intermediate layer in composite material may be made of metal with heat conductivity of more than 0.1 kcal/s.cm.C and melting point of above 750 C or from ceramic material with melting point in excess of 1000 C. Intermediate layer in composite material on sections of copper members corresponding to point of contact may be made of metal with heat conductivity of more than 0.4 kcal/s.cm.C. EFFECT: improved heat and electrical conductivity with high mechanical strength and resistance to wear. 4 cl, 2 dwg, 2 ex
