FIELD: military equipment, specifically, equipment protecting objects against artillery shells. SUBSTANCE: proposed armor plating presents cellular multilayer structure. Outer layer of armor plating is manufactured of high-strength armor steel, its thickness is equal to half-caliber of most efficient antitank guns ( caliber 100 mm ). Width of air clearance behind it equals thickness of outer layer. Third layer is made of same armor steel. Fourth layer comprises porous extra hard nonmetal material filled up with chemically active substance showing oxidation properties. Its thickness is 3-5 times as large as thickness of outer layer. Fifth and seventh layers are made of same steel that is used to manufacture outer layer, air clearance is arranged between them presents sixth layer. Thickness of third, fifth and seventh layers is one-fifth as large as thickness of outer layer and width of sixth layer is twice as large as thickness of fifth layer. Mass of one square meter of such armor plating is smaller approximately by factor of 2.2 than mass of solid armor plating of same thickness but it guarantees its antipiercing properties for both subcaliber shells up to 100 mm and for shaped jets of practically all hollow ammunition.
