FIELD: instrumentation engineering; measuring liquid level in enclosed space. SUBSTANCE: contact level gage has float with permanent magnets, vertical nonmagnetic tube, reed relay, reversing motor, incremental angle-of-turn transducer, drum with cable, read-out start photosensor, photosensor-translator, and supporting plate. Float and its permanent magnets are mounted on vertical nonmagnetic tube. Incremental angle-of-turn transducer and drum with cable are coupled with reversing motor shaft. Reed relay with nonmagnetic weight is mounted inside nonmagnetic tube on end of cable made of flexible conductor. Supporting plate has bore to receive drum.
