FIELD: veterinary science. SUBSTANCE: method of preparing iron-containing preparation involves interaction of organic acids eliciting heme-stimulating properties with iron compound to form water-soluble chelates. Humic and/or fulvic acids isolated from peat extracts are used as organic acid with heme-stimulating properties. Ferrous water-soluble salts are used as iron compounds taken in the amount equivalent to the content of carboxyl groups of humic and/or fulvic acids. It is possible to obtain different water-soluble iron- -containing preparations depending on conditions of treatment of peat extracts. Ferrohumate complex is prepared by interaction of humic acid isolated from peat extract by its treatment with hydrochloric acid solution at pH 1-2 with Mohr's salt. Ferrofulvate complex is prepared from peat extract after isolation and removal humic acids from its by interaction with Mohr's salt. Ferrofulvohumate complex is prepared by direct treatment of peat extract with Mohr's salt. Method ensures to obtain preparations with higher heme-stimulating properties from natural ecologically safety raw (peat) under very mild and safety conditions.
