FIELD: vacuum electrometallurgy, namely designs of converters for vacuum distillation of calcium. SUBSTANCE: housing of converter includes upper water-cooled portion having mounting and sealing flanges and also welded to said portion steel cylinder with rigidity rings. The last are in the form of lands welded onto steel cylinder body and made of heat- and scale-resistant alloy whose linear expansion coefficient is less than that of cylinder metal. Long time period strength and scale resistance of welded on metal are higher than those of cylinder metal. Outer surface of steel cylinder is coated with heat resistant aluminized coating.
