WELDING HEAD FOR GAS-SHIELD WELDING AND SURFACING ARTICLES Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: welding, namely heads for gas-shield welding and surfacing articles, possibly at making welded constructions in different branches of machine engineering. SUBSTANCE: welding head includes elongated tip in the form of two-arm lever with spheric sleeve between arms. On one end of tip there is member for rotating provided with inner duct for supplying shield gas. On other end of tip there is working portion of welding electrode. Ball bearing is formed by means of housing and cover; spheric sleeve is mounted inside ball bearing. Tip is mounted in spheric sleeve with possibility of lengthwise motion and it has spring-loaded member for fixing gap between working end of electrode and welded article. Fixing member is in the form of collar whose outer surface engages with turning of cover of ball bearing for defining motion path of working end of electrode. EFFECT: simplified use of head for welding in hard-to-reach zones, enhanced quality of welded joint due to stable ignition of arc. 2 dwg
