FIELD: manufacture by cold rolling of bimetallic material designed for making parts operating in friction and high-wear conditions, for example bimetallic inserts of sliding bearing assemblies of crankshafts of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: line includes uncoilers for uncoiling steel and antifriction strips respectively; straightening machine; hydraulic shears; butt welding machine; two feeding roller-type apparatuses; steel strip accumulator; degreasing apparatus; device for controlling loop; two tensions apparatuses; two machines for preparing surfaces of steel and antifriction strips provided with moistened dust trap; cladding one-stand two-roll mill with hydraulic drive and with two electric drives of screwdown mechanisms; device for controlling thickness of bimetallic strip; control panel; press for cutting bimetallic strip; coiler for coiling bimetallic strip. Line also includes three contact-free thickness gages; registering unit; two subtraction units; unit for setting thickness value; two power amplifiers; electric drive units of mill. Thickness is measured by means of contact-free thickness gages along edges and mean portion of strip. Outlet of each gage is connected with inlet of registering unit. Outlets of two terminal thickness gages are connected with first inputs of subtraction units. Unit for setting strip thickness feeds to second inlet of subtraction unit voltage of apparatus for simulating value of preliminarily set strip thickness. Outlets of subtraction units through power amplifiers are connected respectively with first and second electric drive units of screwdown mechanisms of mill. Invention provides lowered cross and longitudinal thickness difference of bimetallic strip, enhanced efficiency of mill due to continuous automatic control of bimetal thickness not only along mean portion of strip but also along its edges. Using of high-power electric drive of cladding mill instead of hydraulic drive allows to make coiled bimetal with higher thickness and at higher rolling rate. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process, enlarged range of thickness value of bimetallic strip. 2 dwg
