FIELD: geophysics. SUBSTANCE: invention can be employed to determine potential difference between sections of Earth's crust spaced arbitrarily, between continents in particular. Proposed sonde includes metal electrode and electrolyte solution placed in vessel which volume is separated from ground by porous element. Porous element is divided into sections between which one or several buffer vessels filled with electrolyte solution are put. Porous element comprises two parts separated by region penetrable for solution. Porous element includes microsection in the form of round bushing with rough side surface and buffer vessels come in the form of ring grooves cut in bushing. Bushing can have shape of cylinder or cone. Vessel is positioned with clearance in container with open top and clearance is filled with porous filling agent. Container is round, has oval bottom and is fitted with outer flanges with holes. Device evaluating electric field of Earth's crust includes two sondes contacting ground and main line wires connecting electrodes of sondes with voltmeter. Main line wire of each sonde is supplemented with parallel wire insulated from it and is connected together with the latter to differential amplifier, individual for each sonde. Opposite end of parallel wire is connected through resistor to grounded bus, common for both sondes. Outputs of individual differential amplifiers are connected to input of additional differential amplifier, common for both sondes.
