FIELD: foundry. SUBSTANCE: bentonite raw material, with no pretreatment, is laid by a layer 0.5-1.5 m thick, mixed with activator, and allowed to lay for 5 to 18 days while stirring 2-6 times and allowing to repose for 1-3 days after each stirring. Activated material is finally dried and ground. Process can be applied in production of iron ore pellets, for drilling fluids and other processes utilizing activated bentonites. EFFECT: enhanced activation efficiency and simplified technology. 1 tbl
