FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to improved method for production of isoamyl alcohol from ethanol production-originated fusel oil. Fusel oil, before rectification, is supplemented by alkali agent, selected from group including sodium and potassium hydroxides, carbonates, and bicarbonates, calcium oxide, and aqueous ammonia, at elevated temperature and then rectified on rectification installation comprising evaporation apparatus, mass-exchange rotor apparatus, condenser, and phlegm divider. Process is carried out by stripping head fraction until vat temperature is 121-127 C, after which product from the first evaporation apparatus is pumped into the second one and distilled to give pure isoamyl alcohol. Process can also be conducted by stripping head fraction until vat temperature is 131-132 C and vapor phase temperature 128-129 C, after which contents of evaporation apparatus is distilled from the same evaporation apparatus to give isoamyl alcohol of the class "pure" or "analytically pure". Alkali agent is usually added in amounts going from 0.01 to 3% of the weight of fusel oil. EFFECT: reduced power consumption and process time. 3 cl, 2 dwg
