FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods aimed at provision of periodical boosting of power output by introduction of gas forming additives to into standard (basic) hydrocarbon fuel. Method of boosting of internal combustion engine comes to delivery of high calorific basic fuel, for instance, hydrocarbon one, and boosting additive which decomposes with liberation of additional amount of gases and water vapors, into combustion chamber. Water solution on basic of ammonium nitrate and water soluble fuel, for instance, carbamide, ratio 1:10 to 10:1 of high calorific basic fuel is delivered into combustion chamber in dispersed state as boosting additive. Carbamide, urotropin, ammonia, alcohols carbohydrates and others can be used water soluble fuel. If additional water nitrate energy carrier of the same of higher second rate as that of basic fuel is introduced into combustion chamber, thermal effect of summary reaction rises with simultaneous increase of volume of gases with resulting increase in engine serviceability. Regulation of boosting level and content of water vapors in reaction products is provided by changing ratio of consumption of basic fuel and water nitrate energy carrier and concentration of energy carrier. Invention provides boosting of engines particularly those used in vehicles. EFFECT: improved ecological characteristics, reduced cost. 1 tbl
