FIELD: defense equipment, guided rockets, armament complexes which guide rockets on to ground and surface targets. SUBSTANCE: proposed passive infrared homing head of rotating rocket has lens optically coupled to line matrix of photo-sensitive elements, electron switch, analog-to-digital converter, on-line storage, target selector and amplifier connected in series. Output of amplifier is connected slaving-torque motor of corrected free gyro and to inputs of guidance equipment of rocket. There are inserted change- over switch of elements of matrix and converter of coordinates of elements of matrix from system of polar coordinates to system of Cartesian coordinates connected in series. Output of change-over switch is also connected to input of switch, second input of coordinate converter is connected to output of transmitter of rocket angle of roll and output is connected to second inputs of on-line storage and target selector. Lens and matrix are mounted on frame of gimbal suspension of gyro. Longitudinal dimension of matrix equals diameter of field of vision of lens in focal plane.
