FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to rolling equipment, namely to heads bale tie machines designed for twisting of wire ends. Proposed head has pressure unit installed on head body to press wire in process of tightening and bending off of twisted ends. Said unit consists of lever hinge-mounted on axle and hydraulic cylinder coupled with lever. Wire twisting mechanism installed in head body includes rotary housing with two cylindrical sealed surfaces forming oil space, section with outer thread located in between and axial space with spring-loaded piston arranged inside and provided with head on end in form of truncated cone communicating with oil space through channel, device providing translational displacement of rotary housing in form of nut installed for engagement with outer thread of rotary housing and wire clamping unit built into rotary housing formed by two spring- loaded jaws secured on axle for engagement with piston head and hydraulic motor connected with rotary housing. Rotary housing of wire twisting mechanism is connected with hydraulic motor shaft by means of coupling permitting longitudinal displacement at turning. Nut is split and is installed with lateral and longitudinal degrees of freedom. Cylindrical sealed surfaces on rotary housing are of equal diameter, and diameter of section with thread is smaller than diameter of cylindrical sealed surfaces. Stops are mounted from outside on head body and on rotary housing of wire twisting mechanism. Said stops engage at translational displacement of rotary housing. Stops mounted on head body are made in form of devices automatically disconnecting hydraulic motor in extreme positions of rotary housing of wire twisting mechanism. Such design of wire end twisting head improved conditions of its servicing and repair and increases number of twist coils.
