FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: method comprises interaction of hydrocarbon stream with catalytic composition under conditions favoring conversion of hydrocarbon into olefins and C6-C8-aromatic hydrocarbons. Catalytic composition includes zeolite, binding substance, and boron in amount 0.01- 10%. Catalytic composition is prepared by (i) mixing zeolite with coke formation-reducing amount of binding substance under conditions favoring formation of mixture; (ii) interaction of resulting mixture with coke formation-reducing amount of boron under conditions favoring formation of zeolite with incorporated boron or boron-impregnated zeolite; and (iii) calcination of zeolite with incorporated boron or boron-impregnated zeolite.
