FIELD: radio engineering; automatic-control and communication systems including amplifier channels of transmitters and receivers. SUBSTANCE: method designed for automatic setting and regulation of output signal level in complex variable-parameter broadband channels such as those of radio transmitter exciters depends on presetting output signal level of channel using for the purpose coarse and fine regulation in which case output signal of channel does not exceed maximum permissible level throughout entire range of channel output signal variations, as well as measuring output signal level with coarse and fine regulation of output signal level. In the process a number of interrelated operations are made, as follows: delayed measurement of channel output signal level; evaluation of regulation signals by functional transforms of measurement results of output signal level that has become steady state upon first regulation stage including rated level; repeated coarse and fine regulation of signal level.
