FIELD: cleaning of large-sized reservoirs. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes delivery of pulses of compressed air in which several independent shock waves are generated acting on material contained in reservoir; waves are propagated over periphery of surface being cleaned towards its central zone; action of all shock waves on material in this zone is performed simultaneously during one cycle. Device proposed for realization of this method includes receiver with air supply passage and cylinder with group of discharge nozzles where differential piston is arranged; this piston has valve surface engageable with valve surface of discharge hole of receiver for closing the hole. Device has several independent shock wave generators mounted on receiver smoothly over periphery of receiver surface being cleaned. Differential piston of each generator is located in cylinder forming charging chamber communicated with receiver through air supply passage; toroidal receiver which is common for all generators embraces surface being cleaned; differential pistons of generators have similar differentiality.
