FIELD: rail tracks.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in any industry employing rail vehicles. In proposed joint rails are connected to each other by side fishplates and cross fastening members. End faces of each butt joined rail are made axially symmetrical at angle to longitudinal axis of rail. Surfaces of rail butt joints are inversely symmetrical to perpendicular to longitudinal axis of rails. Length L of side fishplate is calculated by formula: L=K B/tgα where B is width of rail head; α is angle of symmetry of cut plate relative to longitudinal axis of rail: K=1.5 … 3 is coefficient found experimentally. Invention provides increasing of active zone of wheels passing through butt joint and simultaneous decreasing of cantilever non-fastened zone of butt joint, thus reducing dynamic loads acting in butt-joint and on permanent way. Use of proposed rail fishing reduces specific amount of metal per structure and total weight of rail track owing to reduced length of side fishplates.

EFFECT: increased service life and improved reliability of butt joints.
