FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: given converter can be employed to test thickness of non-conductive coats on current-conducting bases or thickness of flat articles made of dielectric materials. Converter includes core-type magnetic circuit with hemisphere- rounded working end. Magnetic circuit carries excitation and measurement windings. Screen of ferromagnetic material fabricated in the form of washer with hole is put on butt of working end of converter. Center of hole in screen matches axis of core-type magnetic circuit. Additional magnetic circuit in the form of hollow cylinder with truncated cone end is mounted on working end of magnetic circuit. Smaller base of conical part of additional magnetic circuit is located inside hole in screen. Design of converter has influence on localization of magnetic flux which enhances measurement accuracy of controlled parameters and makes it feasible to control articles of small dimensions and complex configuration.
