APPARATUS FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING AND EXTRUDING HOLLOW SHAPES Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: plastic metal working, possibly production of seamless hollow shapes such as tubes, mainly of copper and aluminium alloys by continuous casting and extruding. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes furnace-mixer, grooved roll and roll with protrusion, both forming working roll grooved pass. At outlet of said pass die with wedge-shaped cooling cavities is arranged. Apparatus includes in addition elongated needle mounted coaxially relative to die, having mechanism for withdrawing it, rigidly fixed by means of fixing member and arranged in holder with ducts for supplying lubricant and with protrusions for closing ducts. Said ducts are arranged along perimeter of needle. Water cooled cavities are provided in rolls. It is rational to select relation of critical working length of needle to diameter of grooved roll in range 0.05 - 0.35.
